About the crazy.....

My photo
GA, United States
Just a southern gal from Georgia who has a real problem with baking. And by problem I mean, I can't help myself! :D I am married to the love of my life, he puts up with me so well! I am mother to the most adorable, yet tough little boy. And mother to a most beautiful full of attitude, little girl. I can't forget about our 4-legged family members! Our terrier Lucy, Our Great Dane Milo, our mutty mutt Ellie and our cats Abbey and Sammy! I LOVE to bake and I am trying to start up my own cupcakery. I love vintage anything! My blog started out as a blog for my cupcakes, now it has turned into an everyday into the life of "ME" blog. Life is not perfect and wonderful all the time, you will hear me gripe, bahahaha, it isn't all cupcakes. Just a heads up per say. :D Hope your reading experience is enjoyable! Soccer balls and baby bottles!

Yesterday was a crazy hectic day around here. We had my sons end of the season soccer party and then I had a baby shower to attend. The soccer party was great! There was a ton of pizza and a fantastic cake that one of the dads made, Brandon, and we had a huge moonwalk! It was great seeing all of the kids again and seeing them get their adorable trophies! So glad my husband took my advice and got the pewter figurines, instead of your same old ugly gold painted plastic trophies. Thanks hubby! Took a ton of pictures, and of course will post some of them, and also got a great picture of my husband accepting his Coaches Plaque. All in all, great great party. Well then it was rush rush rush home to finish the cupcakes for Mandie's baby shower. I thought I would have enough time to get home and them done before I had to leave, needless to say by the time I arrived to the baby shower, I was 2 hours late! But of course Mandie and Bo did not care and everyone had actually arrived an hour late and were still eating when I arrived. WHEW. The drive alone was an hour and a half, that's not including the time it took to finish the cupcakes. For the baby shower, which was more a pool party with baby gifts, Mandie wanted brown and "cute" green kuppies. So, that's what I did. :D And the vanilla bean on vanilla cupcake was the biggest hit! I really expected the double chocolate with milk chocolate butter cream to be the hit, but surprise! Seeing her baby belly and seeing the other babies around there had me thinking that maybe my husband is on to something, he wants a 3rd child, but I am trying to recoup from heart surgery and try and lose some weight I gained from all the meds. Who knows, maybe a few months from now, but NOT right this minute! :) I guess I have bored you enough with this very long and on going post of mine, I do hope your not snoring right now! :)

Emergency Department fun.....

Today's post was going to be about my homemade fondant baby shower cupcake toppers. But, my adorable little baby girl decided she wanted to fall off of her bike and fracture her wrist. :) I love her. So off to the ER we went! I knew it wasn't broken because she could move it. But the second she moved it or put any weight on it, she screamed and cried, poor thing. So, in the back we were and in came the heavy artillery. The very nice PA there came equipped with Motrin and a popsicle-- PERFECT!  "K" loves popsicles!! The nurse came in and started putting on her cast and this little girl sat there pretty as you please, eating her popsicle, and letting the man do his job. He was sooo great with her, he even put a mini cast on her Tinkerbell doll to make the both of them feel better. Thank you Tanner for making her feel better! Come Monday though, we are at the ortho finding out if she needs a permanent cast for 6 weeks or, if this one can come off. But I have a feeling she will me a trooper and it can come off. I feel bad for my little darling, her brother has his end-of-the-season soccer party tomorrow, and guess who can't get into the moonwalk?

Memorial Day

I want to start off by saying a huge THANK YOU to all of the brave men and women who have served, who serve, and who will serve our country! Without your bravery and your self this world would not be where it is today and I thank you! Today was a great day. It started out kind of rocky with misbehaving dogs and kids, but turned out fantastic! The family came over and we grilled out and I made some Memorial Day pound cake cupcakes with stars on top. Basic. Simple. But cute. Or so my neice and kids say. : ) I started out wanting to make a square cake and cover it with fondant and cut out starts and stripes, but then I got so overwhelmed by all of the food I had to prepare and the house I had to clean in 3 hours, so I said, fuh-get-about-it, and stuck to Kuppies. And pound cake kuppies were great, a little more dense than what I am used to, but they were still tasty. I hope everyone had a safe and fun Memorial Day!

Brookies-- Just saying

Tonight I threw together an easy-as-can-be supper of spaghetti bake and garlic bread. Why? You ask. Simple, I was saving my strength for the brookies I was about to conquer. And conquer, I did! They were so easy to make, my arm seemed a little less enthused than my heart, but fun none the less. I got the recipe from Bakerella, and thank you sooo much! These are very rich and tempting chocolatey ooey bars of goodness. I am warning you, these are addicting. Pair with an ice cold glass of milk and I am ready to crawl into bed sucking my thumb! Ok, maybe not SOOOO amazing, but close. I have put the recipe below along with a couple of pictures! Enjoy. And if you make them, send me some pix!

Brookies

2 3/4 cup all purpose flour

2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

2/3 cup butter, softened

1 lb. light brown sugar

3 eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla

11.5 ounce package milk chocolate chips

1 cup chopped pecans (optional)

By hand:

Sift flour, baking powder and salt into a large bowl. Set aside.

Stir brown sugar into softened (not melted) butter in another large bowl until butter disappears. You can use the back of your spoon to help incorporate the two together.

Add eggs one at a time to butter mixture and stir well after each egg.

Add vanilla, chocolate chips and nuts. Mix well.

Add dry flour mixture and stir until well combined.

Coat a 13 X 9 pan with non-stick spray and spread batter evenly into dish.

Bake at 350 degrees for 30-45 minutes or until top is golden brown. Make sure you don’t over bake.

Enjoy! Enjoy! Enjoy!

Get'cha popcorn!! Hot and fresh!!

Prepare yourself, for this is going to be, a long post (picture wise). :D Today I have been a baking whirlwind! I know this because my husband would complain that I was neglecting him. Poor thing. (Note the subtle sarcasm) Anyways, I got around to cutting and gluing all of my kuppy wrappers and getting them ready for dark chocolate kuppies. And yes, today I FINALLY made my popcorn kuppies! They were soooo cute, just so cute that I couldn't bring myself to *GULP*, EAT them. So, I let my family do it instead! The rest of the kuppies I iced and placed in their new little homes, until they are eaten, for a long night. I have posted a FEW pictures. Also, today I let my kids color on cookies I made yesterday. Today was not such a good cookie day, it was my very first time doing cookies, and I didn't even have a #1 tip, which really hurt my ideas. But practice makes perfect! Well I will be getting off the computer now, if I don't I won't be able to fetch my kids their cinnamon toast in the morning! :D Peace, Love, and Kuppies!

Kuppies Wrappers

So yesterday I must have made about 6 cupcake wrappers. HAHA. I know, HUGE accomplishment. Well today I will be finishing them and also filling them with cute and adorable kuppies. Thank goodness that I got a stencil from Skip To My Lou, thank you!!! Went to the hobby store and found boo-koos of paper waiting to be turned into a most wonderful kuppy wrapper. (Or atleast in my mind they are.) I did some, old style vintage looking dirty carnival popcorn ones, and I can't wait to get to the grass ones for our soccer party, the dinosaurs for my son, the butterflies for my daughter, the vintage U.S. flag for Memorial day, and the VINTAGE VALENTINES CARDS!!!! Can you tell I am a smidge excited, over paper, I know contain yourself!

AHHHHH! Robots!

Finally got my robot kuppies finished, a little disappointed, but cute none-the-less. It took me a hot minute, but I guess thats what I get for trying to cook dinner at the same time. I wish that I had covered the kuppies in liquid fondant first and then let harden, but oh well, next time I will. This was my very first time making these robots, and my son has already requested them again!

Carrot Kuppies

I wanted to bake yesterday soooo bad for some reason. So I walked into my pantry to gather ingredients and then for some reason I remembered that HUGE bag of carrots I purchased at Sams. So, I decided to make carrot cake kuppies. Honestly, I have never been a fan of carrot cake until a month ago. And I loved it! But instead of cream cheeses icing, I made a cinnamon buttercream, which tasted like Chik-fil-a ice cream to me. YUM. And so of course I got to cooking, and today I am going to make some Robot Kuppies. Can't wait for this either! I love working with fondant and gumpaste.
