About the crazy.....

My photo
GA, United States
Just a southern gal from Georgia who has a real problem with baking. And by problem I mean, I can't help myself! :D I am married to the love of my life, he puts up with me so well! I am mother to the most adorable, yet tough little boy. And mother to a most beautiful full of attitude, little girl. I can't forget about our 4-legged family members! Our terrier Lucy, Our Great Dane Milo, our mutty mutt Ellie and our cats Abbey and Sammy! I LOVE to bake and I am trying to start up my own cupcakery. I love vintage anything! My blog started out as a blog for my cupcakes, now it has turned into an everyday into the life of "ME" blog. Life is not perfect and wonderful all the time, you will hear me gripe, bahahaha, it isn't all cupcakes. Just a heads up per say. :D Hope your reading experience is enjoyable! And please be sure to comment, follow, and grab my button!

Doctors who aren't doctors at all

Do you or did you ever know someone who self diagnosed themselves or others? (That weren't actually doctors) People who go online and look up symptoms and tell themselves, along with others, that yes they have such and such. I myself am guilty of doing this once or twice, but not anymore. My poor little ladybug was getting sick. Here comes the runny nose, small cough, and irritability. OH JOY. I don't know if you have ever had a sick and irritable 2 year old, especially one with huge attitude, but it is not fun! :)

OK, so for about a week, all she did was fuss and cry and melt down for no apparent reason. And what did this low patience mother do? I fussed back, and put her in timeout and just yelled. Yes, I too can lose my patience and sometimes yell, its life. Of course, now I feel bad, because she was sick. Did not know this really, just figured it was her allergies going haywire from this crazy Georgia weather. Saturday night she had this huge and nasty looking rash covering her thigh, it looked so bad and felt so hot, that I actually took her to the ER.

Come to find out, they were not helpful and it was a waste of time. This kept happening, she would be burning up with a fever and this rash engulfed her entire body. She was red, puffy, and covered in white welts. Little ladybug looked like a red marshmallow. My husband found out that his sisters kids has "Fifths Disease", and of course ladybughad it because we had been around them. Of course, his niece and nephew were self diagnosed off of the computer, and this diagnosis claimed that this was untreatable.

Really?!!? WOW. So, my husband was sure this is what she had, all the symptoms were the same. Pause. Clearly I am NOT a doctor, but I do know that there are a ton of different illnesses and diseases with the same symptoms, doesn't mean you have them all! OK, play. He was online reading about what she couldn't do and what we couldn't do. Of course this little momma was already prepped to call the doctor first thing Monday morning.

Had a rough night with my baby girl, up til 5 with a fever and rash and fighting with her to take some meds. Finally got to sleep and woke up at 9 to care for my son, then called and made her an appointment. Yes, this is a long, drawn out story, hence the blog. :) I'm getting to the point, promise. Woke up the sleeping princess and put her in the car, and headed to the doctor.

We were seen in about 5 minutes, if that, love her doctor. Come to find out, her doctor "Dr. E", was flabbergasted. hahaha. This "couldn't be treated", hahaha. I was just sitting there looking at her like I knew exactly how she felt and with this look on my face that screamed "I hate online self diagnosis from people who aren't doctors". HA. Well come to find out, everything was treatable, and everything includes: Pink eye, Strep throat, Tonsillitis, and and URI (Upper resp. infec).

WOW. Poor girl, no wonder she has been so ill and ornery. This is why I take my children to the doctor. If I had listened, which I wouldn't have, she would have been at home miserable with high fevers, step throat, pink eye, URI, and tonsillitis. THAT would have been joyful. Not. So, now my baby is on Popsicle meals and watered down juicy juice and ice water. Oh yes, and all of the medications that don't "Treat" "this". :)

I am bad at this! The worst is when you take them to the ER and they tell you nothing is wrong and you just know there is something. I hope your little girl starts feeling better soon.

I hope you stop by and check out my blog. http://mom2zqb.blogspot.com

Sit 2 yr olds are not fun, neither are sick 3 yr olds (having just gone through that). Sometimes though self diagnosis is better. I was sure my son had a milk allergy but the Dr. refused to agree with me. I finllay took him to an allergist to have him tested. Sure enough, his blood test results showed the highest level of allergy to milk, and eggs, and peanuts. So, don't give up on the self diagnosis, some times it's the best thing!

BTW - new follower from FMBT. Stop by my site some time.

I have to admit, I too do this sometimes. It just irritated me sooo bad that my husband was all for agreeing with his sister and would have very well left it at that. HA. Its a good thing her momma is "one smart cupcake" and figured I would take her to the doctor for peace of mind. :) Now she is feeling, well acting, 60% better. One day at a time. :)

I am guilty of doing this for myself a few years ago, but never for my child. I just hate going to the Dr. If my baby is sick then that's a different story. I'm glad you found out what it was. Sorry it was so many things! Poor baby!!! I hope she is getting better. ((HUGS)) to her! Thanks for the follow. I'm following as well!

I am a new follower from Tuesday Tag-Along. I hope your little one is feeling much better soon. The internet is NOT a good place to try to figure out what is wrong when little ones are sick.

I've got 6 kids and usually am able to figure out what is wrong with them when they are sick. Fevers and rashes always warrant a visit to the Dr along with anything that involves breathing difficulty.
