Yoga and Sneaky Snakes

Woke up one morning and decided that I would make my hubby some breakfast before he went to work. Now keep in mind, I am not ready for the day until about after 9. So being up at 5:30, AND feeling generous, once in a lifetime. I was trying not to make too much noise in the kitchen, I did not want to wake my sleeping hellians angels from their slumber. Got out the eggs, bacon, cheese, and bread.

Scrambled the eggs, cooked the bacon til it was burnt just right, toasted the bread and put it all together! VOILA! Breakfast for my man. Now, where is my man? Still sound asleep, nice. So, HIS alarm woke ME up, but not HIM. Classic. Well, hunny left for work and of course I had full intention on NOT going back to sleep. He was certain I would, but I was going to stay strong! And I did. My little girl woke up at 6 am and peeked her little bed head into the kitchen.

She walked in with her eyes half open and speaking in the softest "just woke up" adorable tone, and asked me for some breakfast. Well in my house, when my daughter wakes up soooo stinkin cute like this, I am instantly thrown into a good mood. I leaned over the island and whispered with a HUGE grin, "What would you like for breakfast baby?" She looked back at me with her beautiful grin and pointed at the cupcake toppers I had made the night before, out of homemade MMF, and that was it. So, I said, "no baby, those are for your brothers class". Then the gut wrencher.

She looked up at me and said, "but mommy, I already had one.... in bed". My face was probably priceless at this point, and my jaw flew open, hit the ground and my mind was rapidly thinking, yeah right. haha. But no, she was right. I looked down on the tray and I was missing an entire cupcake topper and a "0" off of another one. She looked at me with the slyest grin I have ever seen, and she was so proud of herself for being so sneaky! Here I was locking up our great dane, so HE wouldn't eat one, and my precious 3 year old was the culprit! So... needless to say, momma was rushing around trying to roll out more fondant and making a new one. Kids... Nuff said.

Yoga. Here in this past week I have been doing yoga. I was so excited. The first thought in my mind, oh this is just a bunch of stretching, my kind of work out! Note: If you do yoga and you already know that this assumption is completely WRONG, shh. So, I bought this Jillian Michaels Yoga Meltdown.... I thought: "Meltdown? Must just be because your stretching SO much". Then I read the front of the cover, "Lose 5 pounds a week".... I paused and pondered, standing in the walmart... 5 pounds gone, from stretching? Hmm.. OK. Maybe they stretch REAL WELL.

Got home and decided to give it a go before bed. After all, who wouldn't want a nice relaxing stretch-down before you crawl into bed? I pop the DVD in and there she is, make-up and all. Aww, How pretty, see you don't need make up like that for a "real" work out. I knew this was going to be easy. You see where I am headed, don't you? Start stretching and then she wants me to get my heart rate up. For yoga?! I thought. Ok. I will humor you Jillian.

And then the workout started...... HELL ON A DVD. YOGA IS NOT EASY STRETCHING! Maybe once you have done it for years it is easy! HA. I loved the downward dog and the warrior, but this one thing, can't remember what it is called, where you have to go into a push up like postition on your elbows and then turn to your side with your arm in the air and balance..... HA. Not fun easy stretching. So, after all of my, thats easy crap.

I am sorely mistaken. But, on a side note, I LOVED IT! Now, I have to do it everyday. Funny thing, my husband walked in while I was doing it, and what did he say to me? "Yoga? Huh, thats so EASY, nothing but stretching!" BAHAHAHAHA. Sure honey. Go ahead and try it with me. ;)

Ruffle Cake 1- Me 0

Well I have been very interested in trying to make the Ruffle Cake I had seen on Amanda's Blog "i am Baker". Well today was the day! Note to self and others, make sure your frosting is thick enough. Oh and... be patient! ;)

First make your cakes and cut them in half:
Next, start your crumb coat; {this does not have to look perfect at all!}

Once you are done with your crumb coat, freeze for 5-10 minutes. Remove, and crumb coat again... {the only reason I did this twice was because I was using two different frostings inside, vanilla and chocolate}
Next, freeze for another 5 minutes.
While it is in the freezer, put your tip #103 into your piping bag and fill with frosting.
With the smaller end facing out and the larger end slightly touching the cake, squeeze out frosting in a straight line and then move it back and fourth until you reach the top.

Once finished, ENJOY! But take some pics, I would love to see them!
Here is mine, oddly enough, something happened and it was on that plate for no longer than 2 minutes. ;)

A "hopefully soon-to-be" annual event

Today, well tomorrow at 11 am, is the day that I will hope to become a part of something HUGE. A friend of mine has come up with a yearly fund-raising idea to help raise money for families in need in our area. This all started with Tommy Phillips, who is in need of a liver transplant, and can't afford the after-care meds on his own.

His wife, Dawn, works for our city. Of course, like most of us, they do not wish to ask for help. So, someone else did on behalf of them, and here we are. I am in charge of {surprise!} concessions, t-shirts, and something else I can't remember, oops. We hope to make this an on-going event and every year we will get nominations for a new family in need.

I have come up with the idea to do Pink shirts with red writing. This actually works out great since the fund-raiser will be happening the day before Valentine's Day. The plan is a pagaent, for boys and girls. No glitz and glam, just kids. And since the main sponsor is The Pine MOuntain Gold Museum {equipped with on site farm animal exhibit}, instead of talent, it is going to be "Best Farm Animal Call". Cute, huh?

I thought about putting my kids in it, but they would steal the show, and it wouldn't be any fun for anyone else. So, I guess helping out and running my Kuppy Kakes booth will be fine for me. Above, under Tommy's name is the link, so if anyone would like to donate ANYTHNG at all, you can. Any little bit helps out tremendously!

I am pretty excited about this. It started out at the museum {which isnt very big} and once the city manager heard about it, he loved it! Now we are at the "v-plex" {HUGE place} with decorations and help and a lot more space for people, sponsors, and kids. LOVE IT.

Meet Me On Monday

Head on over to Java's Meet Me On Monday's bloghop! It is a great way to meet new people and get to know them better. Every Monday she will have a set of questions for you to copy and paste and answer. Here are this mondays questions:

1. Do you like your ice cream in a dish, waffle cone, pretzel cone, sugar cone or cake cone?
I prefer it(vanilla) in a bowl, with brown sugar and caramel sauce! Or the classic mint chocolate chip, yum!

2. Do you read the newspaper daily?
Sad to say I do not.

3. Marinara or meat sauce?
Tough one. I LOVE marinara!!! BUT meat sauce is yummy too.

4. Last time you cried?
Yesterday. I was crying on the way to deliver some cupcakes to my twin sister's good friend (whom I have met before, and adore), who just found out she has a brain tumor, and she is only 25. :(

5. What word/phrase do you find really annoying?
Whatever! Or "I can't!" UGH.

Ice Ice go away...

Well I guess my mini outing to the empty Walmart was enough, now they have the main roads closed and 1-20 from our exit down to Atlanta! So, now... Now I am a smidge irritated. Not that I was going anywhere right now, but the thought that I could worked. So... My neighborhood is hard to even get out of now, after the snow somewhat melted then refroze!

Well, here I am, stuck.... AGAIN. And tonight it is supposed to get into the teens, so the stuff the sun melted today, yeah, its sitting in the streets waiting to be refrozen. Ahhh....!!!!!

Baby It's Cold Outside.....

As most of you know by now, it is freezing here! So far today's high is only 22, but to some of you thats pretty warm. My husband and I ventured out last night to the Wal-Mart to return a movie. While we were there I realized that I needed to get some ice cream before THAT was depleated too. It was ridiculous in there! No bread, no milk, no cheese, no frozen pizzas, no sour cream, no cokes, no water, NOTHING.

What in the world are all of these people going to do with some of those things? I didn't realize that snow meant you had to run out and stock up on sour cream. BAHAHAHA.... Anywho. I decided that last night was a good cold night for some brownie sundaes. We usually do pocorn and movie night, but last night was brownie night. Of course, being the great mother that I am, (no laughing) I decided to make them Chocolate Chip cookie dough brownies. How so, easy!

Recipe:
1 box of fudge brownie mix {gasp! yes it was box mix, couldn't run out of eggs & flour, nowhere to buy any ;)}
1 Carton of vanilla ice cream- any kind- we have to use lactose free for our daughter, which is very good.
1 stick of unsalted butter; melted
1/8 cup of granulated white sugar
1/4 & 1/8 of cup of brown sugar (couldn't figure out the measurement that late, sorry)
Mini Chocolate chips or chunks cut up

Make brownies as directed from box; let sit for about 10 minutes. While resting, mix melted butter and both sugars into a bowl on medium speed until fluffy. Chop chocolate if necessary. Plate brownie square onto dish and top with 1 scoop of vanilla ice cream. Spoon sugar mixture over ice cream adn quickly top with chocolate.

NOTE: Because the brown sugar topping is made with butter, once added to ice cream it will harden, not rock hard, but harder than out of the bowl. I smashed mine down a little flat, and it was to die for! You have the chocolate pieces with the hardened brown sugar mixture(like dough) and ice cream and brownie! YUM. Enjoy!

Sorry about the small picture, my camera battery is dead, so I had to upload from my phone.

Snowed In...

We are currently being snowed in, and it is great!!! So, what did you do while snowed in? Please feel free to share any story!
There is nasty ice on the ground and lots of fluffy snow on top, here so far, about 3 inches. Which is HUGE for GA. Anyways, to pass some time, here are some goodies that I madE. Whole Wheat crust turkey pepperoni pizza and peanut butter cup cupcakes!

Now for dessert:
The inside: yes it is smooshed, do you know how hard it is to cut a frozen chocolate topped soft cupcake?!
